REVIEWS - Two Brothers Racing Billet Triple Clamp/Pro Taper Handlebar Kit - by 50ccchick

Since I got my 50 I've been wanting a good quality comfortable bar kit. So, I decided to get the Pro-Taper kit because of all the good things I'd heard about it and the fact that it had a really nice adjustable clamp. The only problem was, I had a race coming up, I had already sold my old bar kit, and the Pro Taper Kits were all sold out and weren't slated to be back in stock until after my race. It was time to punt! I looked around and tried to find the next best thing so I wouldn't be disappointed that I couldn't wait for the Pro Taper kit. What I decided on was a new Two Brothers bar kit which featured the Pro Taper SE bars with pad, a black Big Nutz, two position adjustable clamp, Scott grips, brake lever and cable, plastic throttle, throttle cable, BBR carb cap, front number plate hanger, and a kill switch. It's one of the most complete kits on the market.

When I took the new kit out of the box, first thing I noticed is how light weight the clamp was. It was probably a quarter of the weight that my old Applied clamp was. But the Big Nutz clamp was machined nicely and installed easily. The rest of the installation went really well too. Where I'd had trouble with a plastic throttle in the past, this one slipped right on and the throw was perfect and smooth. Once I got all the parts on, it was time to sit on the bike and see if my comfort level was what I'd hoped it would be. I was pleasantly surprised that the bend of the Pro Taper SE bars in conjunction with the forward clamp setting fit me perfectly!

Now, it was time to take the bike out for spin. I soon realized that I would not be disappointed in this option for a bar kit. All of the parts worked flawlessly. I even crashed a few times. I figured that the bars might slip with this small footprint clamp, but they didn't budge. Then I raced with the new kit. Not a hitch with the new kit at all. And man, the setup felt good.

So, even though this TBR kit is a bit more expensive than some other kits, I would highly recommend it. Not only do you get ALL the parts you need for a new set-up (including kill switch and grips which many kits don't include), you are getting high quality parts that are worth spending a little extra on. Believe me, I've gone the cheap route and it's true that you do often get what you pay for! You can buy both the Pro Taper Bar Kit and the TBR Bar Kit at High Performance Minis.

About the Author: Pam aka 50ccchick, your MTTM site hostess- I started riding motorcycles when I was about 5. We had a little Yamaha 80, street legal, that I used to tear around the backyard on. That was, until I got more interested in riding and raising horses. So the motorcycle went by the way side for years until my ex got an old Yamaha 750 at a garage sale and set about fixing it up so we could take rides together. Course I wanted to drive, so after my divorce, I went out and got a Honda Shadow 600, then an ACE 750. One night while watching TV I saw these old people riding around on kids motorbikes and it looked like a hell of a lotta fun. So, I went out and got a fiddy and since then I've been having a blast fixing it up and riding and racing it around.
