REVIEWS - Romic Shock - by 50ccchick

There is nothing like a good shock to make your fiddy more comfy and controllable. It can make a HUGE difference! And Romic makes a darned good shock.

Romic Shock This review was performed on a 2004 CRF50/Stock Swingarm. Testing was done on a dirt race track, sand, grass and asphalt. 180 lb. rider with 250 spring.

Let's take a look at some of the things I found as pluses about this shock.

  1. It is customized for the rider straight from the factory. You give them the specs on your bike, your style of riding, and your weight, and they build to order. The rider doesn't have to guess at what will work and there's no jury-rigging needed by the rider during install.
  2. This shock is highly adjustable. They have separate external adjustments for both rebound and compression. The adjustments vary widely so you can dial it into your perfect ride for every condition.
  3. Romic shocks are about 1/2 the weight of a stock shock.
  4. This shock is strong. You are not substituting weight for strength. I weigh about 180lbs. and the Romic Shock has held up without a bend or fade in all applications.
  5. These shocks are built in the good old USA.

The Romic company has packaged performance, quality, tune-ability and sleek, lite design into one terrific shock. If you are in the market for a new shock, I recommend you give this one a try. The Romic site listed below has specs and more info if you are interested.

About the Author: Pam aka 50ccchick, your MTTM site hostess- I started riding motorcycles when I was about 5. We had a little Yamaha 80, street legal, that I used to tear around the backyard on. That was, until I got more interested in riding and raising horses. So the motorcycle went by the way side for years until my ex got an old Yamaha 750 at a garage sale and set about fixing it up so we could take rides together. Course I wanted to drive, so after my divorce, I went out and got a Honda Shadow 600, then an ACE 750. One night while watching TV I saw these old people riding around on kids motorbikes and it looked like a hell of a lotta fun. So, I went out and got a fiddy and since then I've been having a blast fixing it up and riding and racing it around.
