REVIEWS - P3 Racing BMX Bars- by
West Anderson
I
recently did in my BBR bmx bars when I had a knarly crash
on my 50. So I started looking around for a new set of bars
and stumbled across the P3 Racing bars. When I received the
bars and took them out of the box I instantly knew that these
were some very high quality bars and had were also the nicest
looking bmx bars I have ever seen. They are made out of 6061
aluminum and also utilize a super strong aluminum cross bar
just like a big bikes bar for added strength and support.
Also, the wall thickness of the bars is 6mm which makes it
one of if not the strongest bars out there and good luck trying
to bend them. Dimension wise, the P3 bar is 27” wide
with the rise of the bar reaching 7.5”. The base of
the P3 bar is 5” wide, while the sweep is 3” back.
When you add up these dimensions, you end up with a much taller
and wider bar that is much more comfortable than most other
bars.
Enough about the description of the bars, time to tell you
how they actually feel while riding. When I first put the
bars on and rode around with them I definitely noticed the
bars were much more comfortable feeling than my previous BBR
bars. These bars have more of an mx style feeling to them
which makes controlling the bike standing or sitting easier.
Particularly while sitting is much better. The bend and sweep
of the bars also makes for better cornering.
If
you are in the market for some new bars, for $38, I certainly
hope that these are now on your list.
About the Author: West Anderson - I have been
riding dirtbikes since I was 6 years old and have never been
off a bike since. I got into 50's about 2 years ago when I
acquired a 1977 Z50 from a storage garage. Had the Z for about
a year but I really wanted a xr50 bad once I started seeing
trick ones riding around and I found out more about racing.
So I sold my Z and found a used 2002 stock xr50. I rode stock
for a couple of months. Meanwhile, I became a member of PlanetMinis
and started learning everything I could about 50's and all
of the aftermarket companies and parts available at the best
prices. I now have vast knowledge of 50's, what works, what
doesn't, and can pretty much diagnose any problem that you
may come across. Currently, my bike has a large amount of
aftermarket parts on it and about the only things left stock
are the frame, hubs, engine cases, crank, and tranny. I am
starting to race my 50 as much as possible. Hitting as many
local races here in Florida as I can, and I have done very
well in my first couple of races. I ride and practice on it
everyday and am always trying to find ways to run it into
a corner harder and lean it into a rut further just to gain
that edge.
