REVIEWS - MiniGunz Exhaust- by
West Anderson
This
is a complete exhaust system designed and manufactured by
Jeff Tuttobene and Darrell Bassani (of BASSANI PERFORMANCE
XHAUST CO.) I have been running this pipe for a while now
on an 88cc Race Head motor and I have to say that it is a
very good pipe, especially for its price. I have actually
run this pipe on 2 different motors, first I had it on a 88cc
ported stock head motor and then switched it over to the race
head motor. When I was first running it on the ported stock
head motor, I switched out the stock exhaust with this one,
and when I test road the bike, I noticed a nice little boost.
The pipe helped the bikes power from right off idle all the
way to top RPM’s. It helped to smooth out the power
band as well making the power come on smoother and more controllable.
Another nice point that I like about the pipe is that is has
a distinctive sound to it. A lot of pipes give your bike a
deeper sound but the MiniGunz gives the bike a unique revvier
sound that also kind of has a cool pop to it, that I think
makes your motor sound even racier than some other pipes.
Also the pipe has a very cool look to it. It is all chrome
with a small stinger out of the muffler that turns down and
out which gives a different look to it. Not to mention its
pretty cool because it kicks up dirt and grass 10feet away.
If your looking for a pipe that is different, gives some nice
gains, with a unique sound, and won't hurt your pocket book,
for $160 from Trail Bikes the MiniGunz should definitely be
at the top of your list.
About
the Author: West Anderson - I have been riding
dirtbikes since I was 6 years old and have never been off
a bike since. I got into 50's about 2 years ago when I acquired
a 1977 Z50 from a storage garage. Had the Z for about a year
but I really wanted a xr50 bad once I started seeing trick
ones riding around and I found out more about racing. So I
sold my Z and found a used 2002 stock xr50. I rode stock for
a couple of months. Meanwhile, I became a member of PlanetMinis
and started learning everything I could about 50's and all
of the aftermarket companies and parts available at the best
prices. I now have vast knowledge of 50's, what works, what
doesn't, and can pretty much diagnose any problem that you
may come across. Currently, my bike has a large amount of
aftermarket parts on it and about the only things left stock
are the frame, hubs, engine cases, crank, and tranny. I am
starting to race my 50 as much as possible. Hitting as many
local races here in Florida as I can, and I have done very
well in my first couple of races. I ride and practice on it
everyday and am always trying to find ways to run it into
a corner harder and lean it into a rut further just to gain
that edge.
