REVIEWS - Fork Stiffeners from 56oval - by

This
is going to be a pretty simple review for a pretty simple
yet highly effective product - Fork Stiffeners from 56oval@comcast.com.
If you've ever had your 50 forks apart to put new springs
on etc. you probably realized just how flimsy the fork lowers
are. After all, the bike wasn't meant to hold 150-200 pounds
of grown-up. So, when you get those extra pounds on those
forks and you start jumping on 'em or crashing on them, the
lowers tend to bend like fish hooks. Fork Stiffeners can help
stop this from happening. These particular fork stiffeners
from 56oval are basically two hardened Aircraft Grade Aluminum
rods that slip into the fork lowers and help fortify them
so they cannot bend. They are machined to fit super snuggly
in the lowers so you do not get any annoying clanking. And
when I say snug, I mean snug! One of my fork lowers was already
out of round so I had to take a rubber mallet and pound the
fs in a bit. BTW: These stiffeners are also fairly light.
They probably add about a pound or so to your front end.
After
riding around for awhile, crashing quite a few times, and
wheelying with these stiffeners in, I have seen no bending
in my front fork lowers at all. I'd say this $35 was a good
investment to keep me from having to spend $150 on fork lower
replacements. This product comes with detailed instructions
and good, fast customer service.

About
the Author: Pam aka 50ccchick, your MTTM site
hostess- I started riding motorcycles when I was about 5.
We had a little Yamaha 80, street legal, that I used to tear
around the backyard on. That was, until I got more interested
in riding and raising horses. So the motorcycle went by the
way side for years until my ex got an old Yamaha 750 at a
garage sale and set about fixing it up so we could take rides
together. Course I wanted to drive, so after my divorce, I
went out and got a Honda Shadow 600, then an ACE 750. One
night while watching TV I saw these old people riding around
on kids motorbikes and it looked like a hell of a lotta fun.
So, I went out and got a fiddy and since then I've been having
a blast fixing it up and riding and racing it around.
